Title: Introduction to Strength & Conditioning & Exercise Performance

Modules:

1. Functional Movement Screening & Fitness Testing

2. Core Stability Development & Corrective Exercises

3. Athletic Movement Preparation

4. Flexibility Training

5. Speed Development

6. Strength Training & programme Development

 

1. Functional Movement Screening & Fitness Testing

This module introduces the coach to functional screening. It examines different approaches or schools of thought in this area. It traces the development of the area through to current and what may be considered state-of-the-art concepts and then introduces a range of basic screens – showing the learner how to set-up, conduct, and interpret the screens. 

2. Core Stability Development & Corrective Exercises

Here we will look at the various core stability exercises used in programmes to help develop the core area. Also, we will look at some corrective exercises that can be used based on the FMS results.

3. Athletic Movement Preparation

Preparing your body properly for training and competition is important to ensure you perform to your potential and to reduce the risk of injuries. But it’s also a valuable time to work on new aspects of training or maintain other fitness qualities if time is limited for your training. In this module we will look at the various stages of a warm up. 

4. Flexibility Training

Here we will address the importance of Flexibility for active and sedative people, while also looking at the key role flexibility plays in growing children. 

5. Speed Development

This module introduces the coach to the multi-faceted area of speed development and to the various components of speed. It ensures that the learner has a understanding of components and elements related to speed. The practical coaching of speed is also a key feature of this module’s work. 

6. Strength Training & programme Development

This module introduces the coach to the area of Resistance Training in general and programme design. We will look at the many and varied methods used in stability, strength, power and muscle mass development.
