 Course Description

 

This is an 8-week spring course suitable for beginners and people who wish to improve their skills in cake decorating in a relaxed, hands on class. Each week new techniques will be demonstrated working towards creating a finished cake in week 8

Week 1

Learn to knead sugar paste, roll out and cover a cake. (Polystyrene dummy cake will be used for practicing throughout the classes)

Week 2

Make novelty characters and complete decoration of a cake

Week 3

Make paper piping bags, practice piping & writing skills

Week 4

Make sugar paste roses& seasonal flowers

Week 5

Learn to almond paste a dummy cake and skim coat with royal icing. 

Week 6

Final coating of dummy cake with royal icing Practicing icing techniques

Week 7 

Piping of royal icing cake& decorate with sugar paste flowers& roses

Week 8 

Decorate novelty sponge cake using techniques learned throughout the course.

Outcome

At the end of this course each person should be familiar with different methods & practices for decorating their own cakes. Applying the demonstrated skills to decorating their cakes for any occasion

No equipment is necessary for taking part in this course however if you do have and apron please bring it along 

*No materials or equipment will be necessary for first night of this course.
